Cost

£35-£50 per session

Duration

Our workshops are held during the day, evening or weekend. In addition, you have the choice to enrol on either a one-off basis or follow a 3-5 week course of workshops, which will involve approximately 2-4 hours of your time each week.

Our Facilitators

Our workshops are run by a combination of psychologists, counsellors, CBT and psychodynamic practitioners who regard themselves as Psychological Coaches.

Residential Care Practice Courses

(1101) Setting up/developing a service provision for children and young people

Are you thinking of setting-up a residential care provision or developing your service to accommodate children and young people? This course is delivered by a small team of Residential Care experts who can assist you in your efforts to: meet legislative standards, care package design, tendering, marketing, web-design, health and safety, daily operations, disciplinary measures, staffing and recruitment, behaviour management, staff training initiatives, complaints procedures etc Meeting legislative standards.

(1102) Caring for children with psychological disturbances & behavioural difficulties

Figures suggest there to be a significant increase in the number of children and young people suffering from some form of psychological disturbance. The key to facilitating the needs of these minors require a certain level of awareness. Awareness is achieved when carers are able to identify the manifestation content of behaviours which are motivated by such emotional problems. Thereafter, a plan of action and appropriate response can be utilised to further support and facilitate their development.

(1103) Leaving Care: preparing young people for the transition of independent living

Do you have enough knowledge, skills and experience to prepare your young-people for a life of independent living? What approach will you take to ensure that when they depart from your care, they will be equipped with the skills needed to care for themselves: financially, educationally, socially and emotionally. This one-day workshop will provide you with adequate knowledge to do so.

Teaching Psychology

(1107) Teaching Psychology in Further Education: AS/A2 Level

This intensive one-day workshop is designed for psychology graduates who would like to explore the possibilities of teaching their subject (psychology) to G.C.S.E and A-Level students within a mainstream setting. Using a wide range of orthodox and contemporary methods, it will show you how to facilitate learners through assessment, performance mapping and career guidance. In addition this course will offer advice and opportunity to gain work placements and possibly employment in facilitating the development of AS/A2 psychology students.

Who should attend?

This workshop is primarily aimed at psychology graduates who have an interest in teaching. Thus, the purpose of the course is to enhance the prospects of psychology graduates who would like to pursue a career in teaching. Prerequisites for registration include a BA/BSc in Psychology or related discipline.

This workshop will guide you on how to:
  • Transform your knowledge of psychology to deliver both formal and informal programmes of learning within a classroom environment
  • Engage and develop learners
  • Develop your ability to find work placements and links with FE/HE institutions and recruiters of psychology teachers/lecturers
  • Employ strategies to disseminate knowledge of psychological theories, perspectives, concepts, research, issues and debates
  • Guidance and direction to secure places on city & Guilds 7307/ PGCE qualification routes to teaching
  • Gain an assisted/paid 'on the job' training placement
